Whats Cooking at Bone Voyage???
TLDR: We will be putting our current roadmap and the fishing update on hold while we develop the core RPG gameplay loop and features of the server such as dungeons, questing, etc.
You guys are more than likely aware that we have been everywhere with development - one second we are working on a fishing update, the next new crate rewards, and the list continues to grow. In the last week, we have realized one thing - for the server to be the best it can, we need to focus more on developing the core gameplay loop before moving to extra features.
For this server, the end goal for the core gameplay loop is for us to have a fully encompassing RPG like setting with quests, custom items, dungeons, and more that players can enjoy while also having the SMP/Survival side of the world for players to enjoy. As it stands, the survival side is doing excellent and we are happy with where it is. On the other hand, the RPG side is lacking in places we'd like it to improve.
So What Has Changed/Available At This Very Moment??
Over the last few days, we have made the following changes
- Added a brand new world for the RPG/Questing/Dungeoning Elements of the Server
This means all admin structures such as spawn and our other cities/protected structures have been moved here
- Added a brand new spawn that represents what a main city should like like (Named Parsel). All features from the old spawn including NPCs, Holograms, and more have been moved here as well
- Moved and modified Jothon/The In Progress Pirate Cove to be more of a supplementary city players can travel to for further content
- Removed all protected structures made by the admins from the survival world and regenerated the chunks where they were at - Now the Survival world is SOLELY for survival (Player structures have not been modified and there has not been any resets)
So What Are We Planning on Doing?
- Creating more lore friendly NPC's to populate the cities
- Creating new shops for players to sell and buy more goods from
- Creating quests for players to do in addition to radiant dialogue for more immersive interaction
- Creating the first instanced dungeon
- Creating the custom armors and weapons
- Making non-instanced dungeons and mob spawns. Essentially, designated areas where certain mobs spawn/removing random mob spawns
And a lot more that we'll save for later. This is going to take quite some time and it is best to consider this side of the server in alpha. We truly appreciate your patience. While we work these features out, the survival server and everything you have been used to doing on the server thus far will still be readily accessible for you to enjoy.
